I can't think of a title.

It's been a while since I posted anything so I thought I would post a post about nothing. Why nothing? Because I really have nothing exciting to talk about. I'm home for the summer with the bugs and I've hit my bored point. Today was especially bad because I didn't have a car. I didn't need to go anywhere, didn't need to pick anything up - it's just the fact that I couldn't go anywhere even if I needed to that was driving me crazy. The Ladybug was a little high maintenance today. The Doodlebug was bored too. I feel bad for him. I want to take him places to do things but the Ladybug isn't a fan of being in her car seat for too long and then when she is out of her car seat all she wants to do is roll around on the floor. Anyway, I would like to take the Doodlebug places but I feel bad asking a grandparent to watch her and I feel bad leaving her. I'm in a no win situation - pity me. Just kidding. Let's see if I can come up with some random bullet points of discussion....well, not really discussion, just random points.....
  • I was supposed to get paid for my Saturday school endeavors today but I didn't.
  • I'm so stinking tired of this freaking boot on my foot.
  • The Doodlebug starts swimming lessons on Thursday.
  • Sarah and I are having a Southern Living party next week.
  • Michael Jackson died - did you hear? Nobody is really talking about it.
  • Chad's birthday is in 17 days.
  • NKOTB is in 18 days.
  • In 3 weeks I'll be on a plane right now on my way to Las Vegas. Actually, I might be about to land.
  • Chad is in the living room right now watching "House Bunny" and he is actually laughing at it. ???

Half way there!

***Chad says this first line sounds like the Ladybug is only going to live to be one so I'm going to revise it. Revision in italics.**

The Ladybug has reached the half way point in the first year of her life. Today she is six months old - and she was actually born on a Thursday too. Time is flying by with her. She's pretty much sitting up on her own. We'll put her in the sitting position and she'll stay there for a while but she won't get in that position on her own. She's still rolling all over the place. She trying to crawl - she'll get on all fours and move her knees but her hands don't know what to do yet so she ends up doing a belly flop on the floor. She's chewing on everything, loves the remote control and the phone, loves Maxx and still loves her big brother. She even loves her veggies.

My week in a nutshell: gynecologist, dermatologist, pediatrician, vet, podiatrist (no surgery) AND are you ready....wait for it....boob smashologist.

....and that's all I have to say about that.

I'll have a grilled cheese with fries and a hot dog bun on the side

Doesn't that sound nutritious? That was one of the Doodlebug's fabulous meal choices on our trip to San Antonio. And guess which part of that meal he ate? The bun! What am I going to do with him.

We had a great time in San Antonio. Here we are riding in Eve. Michelle and I let the kids sit in the middle so they could watch DVDs. It was a good plan but it's not easy getting in and out of the back of Eve with the boot.

I'm sorry I believe we ordered the large Sonic beverage......
We hit the road early on Monday so we could have lunch on the Riverwalk. Here are the kids on the river. The Doodlebug isn't the best picture taker.

We went to Sea World on Tuesday and stayed a lot longer than I think we planned. We went to the water park first and then went to some shows in the park. The weather started out pretty cloudy and since it was still early in the summer the water was a bit chilly. But of course once we got out of the water and went into the park the clouds parted and we started sweating buckets. Wednesday was a realxing day. We went to the pool at the hotel for a while and then Michelle and I left the kids with their daddy's and headed to the spa. After some pampering (which, by the way, we think we need to do on a monthly basis) we went to eat in the little town of Helotes and instead of eating, Carson played games.

We came home yesterday and went and picked up the Ladybug from Nonnie's house. She stayed here so she could get spoiled and stay out of the heat. It was a great trip. Next stop - VEGAS!!!

Random things:

  • I'm a terrible photographer. The pictures above are seriously the only pictures I took on the trip. I'm hoping Michelle's pictures are much better.
  • Our new bed was delivered today. It stinks...literally...but that smell will apparently fade.
  • I was trying to reveal the code on the back of my iTunes gift card and some of the letters and numbers rubbed off and I can't figure out what the code is so I can't redeem the card...sucks.
  • I have my MRI for my ankle today...sucks
  • I have 5 doctors appointments next week - 3 of which are mine...sucks.

Happy Birthday to me!!!

So I'll start by saying my husband freaking rocks.
Today is my 35th birthday and he started the day with some fabulous gifts. I got a new bead for my Pandora bracelet and he started me a new Pandora bracelet. I'm going to fill the second one with nothing but colored beads. He also gave me some high class tequila...yum. Then he organized a birthday brunch for me at Baba Yaga's. It was me & Chad, Michelle & Royce, Sarah & Jason, Melissa (Chuck is in Geneva, poor guy), John, and the boot.
Baba Yaga's had belinnis!! Thank you ma'am...I'll have 3 - but don't think I was the only one to have 3.....

We had a great time. We have already marked out calendars to go back next year. Now I'm attempting to pack for San Antonio. If today was any indication of what this week will be like, Chad and Royce are going to have their hands full with me and Michelle.

What else did we do this weekend? We played dress up....
And we bought a new bed. Bug tested, bug approved.....

It's quite possible Laverne was wrong.

So yesterday was my last official day of work. After our lunch at school I headed to the post office (oh joy) where I proceeded to wait in the wrong line for the better part of 45 minutes and then I waited in the correct line for another 20 minutes to pick up a package that should not have been mailed via the USPS but my cheap make-up bitches were offering free shipping and their version of free is to send it via the USPS instead of Fed Ex and the mail lady who says we have "too many flats" wouldn't leave it on my door so I had to go pick it up. Then I went to the foot doctor...my second foot doctor. I had gone to one foot doctor - I'm pretty sure she is Laverne DeFazio - and she diagnosed me with blah blah and gave me some shoe inserts and told me to wear tennis shoes every day with these inserts. Well, I don't want to wear tennis shoes anymore. I want my dang foot fixed. It's summer and I don't want to wear the sweaty tennis shoes.

This is so much better than a tennis shoe:

Yes, I'm now sporting a boot. Hey doc, I'm going to Sea World next week. That's great! Wear the boot. Suck it, doc. He is of the opinion that I have a torn tendon which he will either confirm or deny after my MRI. The MRI will tell him whether or not he has to "go in" and fix it. He's hoping, as am I, that the boot will fix it. And by the way, a torn tendon is not what Laverne said was wrong. The pain I'm having is nowhere near where Laverne said my problem was so Laverne can suck it too.

So after this fabulous news I went to Carrabba's for dinner with Michelle, Laura and their friend Carolyn. Their bellini machine was broken. HUH???!!! You think I go to Carrabba's for the food?? I think not. So we were forced to get a Carraba-rita...not a bad substitute. We had 1.5 of those bad boys and were feeling great. We had a lot of fun - it was a great end to the end of school. And then I made Michelle get up nice and early this morning and go to a science class with me....what a friend.

Hey Laura - cocks-sacky! (only a precious few will get that one)

Chicken is back!

Anyone who knows the Doodlebug knows that he is not a big eater. He used to eat a lot of chicken but when he turned 3 he decided chicken was icky and he stopped eating it. He told us when he turned 4 he would start eating it again but he didn't. I got tough with him (yeah right) and told him I wasn't buying him anymore new toys until he started eating chicken, or any other meat, again. He was unphased. Well, I get this voicemail from my mom last Tuesday saying he ate chicken at lunch. Woo-hoo!!!! Turns out he only had 2 bites but it was a start. So I used this as my opportunity to start the chicken up again. I told him that if he ate 5 bites of chicken at dinner then we could go to Target and get a new toy. He said ok. While we were eating he asked if he could get some delicious popcorn (that's what he calls the popcorn at Target) when we went to get his new toy. So I upped the chicken limit to 7 pieces if he wanted some delicious popcorn. He ate 7 bites of chicken so off to Target we went. The next day at school he had 2 nuggets from Chick Fil A. WTF? Who's kid is this? Thursday, Friday and Saturday were chickenless days. Sunday evening rolls around and I tell him I'm going to get him a chicken nugget happy meal. I'm expecting him to give me the hand and say he just wants a cheeseburger with no meat but he said ok. So I ran out the door before he could change his mind. He killed 4 nuggets in less than 5 minutes. He came to me and said, "Mommy, I want more chicken nuggets." Ex-queeze me? I told him to eat his fries and if he was still hungry after that we'd go get more. He was still hungry after that. The grand total for nugget consumption by the Doodlebug Sunday evening was 9. NINE NUGGETS!!! Monday lunch - 4 nuggets. Monday dinner - 6 nuggets. HUH??? He actually said he missed chicken. :-) He has even said he wants to try fish sticks. I'll keep you posted on that adventure. Welcome back protein!
